Trinidad and Tobago signs Memorandum of Understanding with Colombia on Political Consultations

Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of a Political Consultations Mechanism between the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia.

The Agreement was signed by the Honourable Minister and his Colombian counterpart, His Excellency Álvaro Leyva Durán, Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia, while attending the VII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and the Caribbean States (CELAC) in Buenos Aires, Argentine Republic, on January 24, 2023.

This Memorandum of Understanding provides for political consultations at Ministerial level to enhance bilateral relations between Trinidad and Tobago and Columbia and to promote increased cooperation between both countries in regional and international affairs of mutual interest.

Trinidad and Tobago and Colombia established diplomatic relations in 1968 and have an active bilateral relationship based on trade, technical cooperation and culture.
