His Excellency Dr. Lovell Francis, High Commissioner for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the Republic of South Africa, presented his Letters of Credence to His Excellency Prithvirajsing Roopun G.C.S.K., President of the Republic of Mauritius, on Wednesday 27th July, 2022 at the State House in Port Louis, Mauritius, accrediting him as non-resident High Commissioner for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the Republic of Mauritius.
The High Commissioner had a cordial discussion with the President, during which they spoke of bolstering South-South collaboration and reflected on Trinidad and Tobago’s and Mauritius’ shared historic engagement on sugar negotiations through the African, Caribbean, Pacific Group of States (ACP). The President also shared his admirations for Trinidad and Tobago, as a small island developing nation that had successfully avoided the “resource curse.” In closing, both parties agreed that the respective countries can leverage the opportunities to deepen collaboration and strengthen the existing bilateral relationship.
Trinidad and Tobago and Mauritius established diplomatic relations in June 1974.
